Riu Santa Fe Opens it's Doors

This area, between San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, lies on the tip of the Baja California peninsula. San José del Cabo, the capital, founded in 1730, offers visitors a wide variety of shops, restaurants, bars, discotheques and hotels. The tip of the peninsula is known as “the end of the earth” by local inhabitants, and from it one can contemplate the exuberant mountains, the desert and the long beaches of white sand. Carnival Promotes Its Own Seven Caribbean Wonders Published on: July 18, 2007

Carnival Cruise Lines has created its own "Seven Wonders of the Caribbean" in the wake of the recent announcement of the selection of the new Seven Wonders of the World. Carnival carries approximately three million guests annually to the Caribbean on 18 ships, including 15 vessels that offer year-round Caribbean departures. The Seven Wonders of the Caribbean featured on Carnival's shore excursions include Chichen Itza in Mexico, the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, El Morro Castle in San Juan, the Mayan ruins of Tulum, Trunk Bay Beach in St. John, the Panama Canal and The Baths in Virgin Gorda. Chichen-Itza also made the official list of the new Seven Wonders of the World. Chichen-Itza was a sacred city of the Itza, and the archaeological site is rated among the most important of the Maya culture. The tour to Chichen-Itza is offered on all of Carnival's cruises that visit Progreso and Cozumel, Mexico. Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System is the longest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere and the second-largest in the world. US Set to Tighten Proof of Passport

U.S. Set to Tighten Proof of Passport Requirement Published on: June 25, 2007

The U.S. Department of State has strengthened security standards for access to the proof of passport application that some Americans are temporarily using to enter and re-enter the United States from points in the Western Hemisphere. To control access to the proof of application, the locator number alone will no longer allow access to the proof of application. This change was recommended by a member of the public and will further safeguard passport customers' personal information, while allowing them to obtain the data they need to meet recently-instituted flexibility in documentation requirements for travel to the Western Hemisphere by air.To obtain the required proof that they have a pending passport application, travelers must visit http://travel.state.gov and provide their last name, date of birth and the last four digits of their social security number to verify their identity. The temporary flexibility, which allows Americans to return from air travel within the Western Hemisphere by presenting government-issued identification and proof of a pending U.S application for a U.S. passport, was announced by the Departments of State and Homeland Security on June 8, and will remain in effect until Sept. 30, 2007. In the meantime, the Department of State has committed to process the record number of passport applications received, and to reduce the passport application turnaround time.

Carnival Splendor's Funnel Sails to Shipyard

Carnival Cruise Lines' new Carnival Splendor has yet to see water under its hull as it takes shape in a building dock, but its signature winged funnel is already making its first sea voyage -- a 1,110-mile, 10-day trek from Trieste, Italy, where it was fabricated, to Fincantieri's Sestri shipyard near Genoa. The funnel is expected to arrive on June 22, at which time it will be positioned atop the massive 113,330-ton, 3,006-passenger "Fun Ship." Carnival Splendor -- the largest ship in the Carnival Cruise Lines' fleet -- is slated to debut from London (Dover) July 13, 2008, launching the line's first-ever 12-day Northern Europe cruise program. From there, the ship will operate 12-day Mediterranean and Greek Isles cruises through the Oct. 29 then reposition to Fort Lauderdale for a series of seven-day Caribbean voyages beginning Nov. 22, 2008. Carnival Splendor begins year-round Mexican Riviera cruises from Long Beach, Calif., March 29, 2009. For more information, email agent@roytravelpro.com

Princess to Offer Two World Cruises in 2009

Princess Cruises will offer two World Cruises in 2009 by the 670-passenger Tahitian Princess and 710-passenger Royal Princess. The ships will visit more than 40 destinations on six continents. The two global itineraries are offered for the first time by Princess because of "the enthusiastic response for Princess' return to world cruising," the company said. The Tahitian Princess and Royal Princess will offer similar 107-day itineraries that set sail from Ft. Lauderdale in January 2009. The Tahitian Princess leaves on Jan. 14, ending in Dover, while Royal Princess sails on Jan. 20 and winds up in Rome. In addition, passengers can choose from two extensions to Dover, Rome, Stockholm or New York for the Tahitian Princess voyage. Both itineraries feature travel to South America, the South Pacific, Australia, Asia, India and Egypt, with differing European segments. Each voyage will call at a brand new port for Princess -- Port Blair in the Andaman Islands in the Indian Ocean. Both itineraries begin with a visit to Grand Cayman and a transit of the Panama Canal on the way to Quito (Manta), Ecuador. There is an overnight stay in Lima (Callao), Peru, where passengers can visit Machu Picchu. A visit to Easter Island follows. Then the ships visit Papeete, Tahiti, and Rarotonga before heading to Auckland and the Australian ports of Burnie (Tasmania), Sydney, Brisbane, and Cairns (for visits to the Great Barrier Reef). Next up are Rabaul (Papua/New Guinea) and Guam, followed by calls to Osaka (for Kyoto), Hiroshima, Seoul (Inchon), Shanghai, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), Sihanoukville (Cambodia) Bangkok, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur (Port Kelang) in Malaysia. The ships then visit Port Blair and cruise the Indian Ocean to Mumbai, India, Dubai, Salalah in Oman, and two ports in Egypt.Once the ships transit the Suez Canal, each itinerary heads in a different direction. The Tahitian Princess visits Athens, Sorrento/Capri, Rome, Cannes, Barcelona, Gibraltar and Lisbon before heading north to Ireland for a call at Cork, followed by Paris/Normandy (Le Havre), and then Dover. The Royal Princess will instead head to the Holy Land to visit Jerusalem (Ashdod), and then call at Istanbul, Athens, Sicily, Barcelona, Cannes, and Pisa/Florence (Livorno), before the final stop in Rome. Tahitian Princess passengers can also extend their voyage 10 days to include northern Europe, Scandinavia and a call in St. Petersburg before ending in Stockholm. They can also choose to combine their cruise with a six-day transatlantic crossing from Southampton to New York aboard the Queen Mary 2, for a 113-day voyage. Early booking fares for Princess' world cruises begin at $21,495 per person, based on double occupancy. For more information email: agent@roytravelpro.com or www.PrincessCruiseSite.com
